Frequently Asked Questions

Please read the following information to have a smooth camp experience. We encourage parents to reach out to head counselors as well as Delaine Martin and McKenzie Gallo (contact information at the bottom of the page) with any questions or concerns!

1. Can my child miss a day of camp?

We ask parents to make sure they choose the session that their child will be able to attend every day. It is important for campers to be in attendance as we have a long wait list of children who would love to be at camp! If you child misses more than one day we will fill their spot with another child on the wait list. Although we understand sometimes things may happen such as illness or a family emergency, just be sure to communicate with counselors if your child is going to be absent.

2. When is drop off and pick up?

You are able to drop your child off as early as 7:30 and no later than 8:00 at FMU. Although on bowling and movie day you will drop your child off at Southgate bowling alley and pick them up at the Julia-4 Theater at the time that their movie ends (you will sign a permission slip of which movie they are allowed to see, the time will be provided on this sheet). On waterpark day it is vital that you drop your child off between 7:30-7:45, the bus will leave at exactly 8:00 and will not wait on campers as we are on a strict schedule.

Pickup will be at 4:00 at FMU every other day, on waterpark day we ask that you pick up your child at 5:00 to allow us time to return from Myrtle Beach. It is very important that you are not late picking up your child as our counselors will have to wait until everyone is picked up before they are allowed to return home. Although we love spending time with the campers the counselors appreciate parents who are in compliance with pick up times!

3. Should my child pack a lunch?

A morning snack and lunch will be provided everyday. The lunch option will be listed in the weekly schedule online as well as in the paperwork given to each parent at orientation on Monday. If your child does not like the specific food provided they are more than welcome to pack a lunch!

4. What is the dress code?

We ask that the campers wear their camp shirts every day! Campers should wear tennis shoes and comfortable pants or shorts as we will be playing games outside and in the auditorium during the day. We ask that campers do not wear hats or bring any items such as purses or bags (lunch boxes are an exception). This prevents personal belongings from being lost throughout the week.

On swim day and waterpark day your child should bring a bag with their bathing suit, towel, sunscreen. They are encouraged to wear their swim suit under their camp shirt on waterpark day to save time in the morning and avoid having to change once we arrive at Myrtle Waves.

5. Can my child bring their phone?

Camp Pee Dee Pride is a phone free environment even for the counselors, with the exception of the head counselors. If you need to get in contact with your child our head counselors will be available to take your call at anytime during the camp day! Contact information will be listed on the website and in the paperwork given at orientation. This is a great opportunity for your child to unplug and make new friends and memories! If a child is found with a phone a counselor will hold it until the end of the day.

6. Do I have to pay for anything?

No, this is a completely free summer camp!! Your child will be able to go to the movies, bowling alley, and the waterpark for free. They will be provided lunch every day at no cost. If your child would like to purchase a snack at the waterpark or movie theater (popcorn and drink provided) they are allowed to bring cash. Although it is your childs responsibility to keep up with their money, the counselors will not be in charge of any additional purchases that your child may make on field trips.
