What we are all about

For over 25 years, Camp Pee Dee Pride has been providing a fun, educational, and completely free summer experience for kids in the Pee Dee region. Held at Francis Marion University, our camp is designed for children ages 8-12, offering them a safe and engaging environment to grow, learn, and build lifelong friendships.

Thanks to the generous support of the Florence County Sheriff’s Department and local businesses, thousands of children have enjoyed a summer filled with exciting activities, hands-on learning, and community connections.

Our Mission

We believe in empowering our youth by combining fun-filled adventures with valuable life lessons. Through interactive experiences, teamwork, and mentorship, we help campers develop skills that will serve them beyond the summer.

What We Offer

At Camp Pee Dee Pride, kids participate in:
-Exciting activities – Movies, bowling, waterparks, field day games, talent shows, and more!
-Skill-building sessions – Teamwork, drug awareness, and community engagement.
-Special guest visits – Meet the FCSO K9 unit, McLeod Regional Medical Center staff, Safe Kids representatives, and other community leaders!

How You Can Help

Camp Pee Dee Pride is 100% funded through fundraising and community support. To continue offering this incredible experience for free, we host fundraising events year-round. Your donations, sponsorships, and participation in these events directly impact the lives of local children.

Join us in making a difference—support Camp Pee Dee Pride and help us shape the future of our youth!

Captain Wayne Howard was one of the founders of CPDP beginning in the summer of 1997. This summer camp was a year round job for Wayne. He spent most of his time organizing fundraisers which allowed hundreds of children to attend camp each year.

Wayne truly cared about each child that came to camp and was always happy to make a positive impact on the Florence county youth.

Wayne Howard passed away in May 2022, each summer we continue camp in his honor.
